FAQ
- How do I calculate how many drywall sheets I need?
- Work out the wall area (length × height), multiply by the number of sides you are boarding, add 10–15% for cuts and waste, then divide by the area of one board and round up. This calculator does it automatically.
- What is the size of a drywall / gypsum board?
- A standard board is 1.2 m × 2.7 m (3.24 m²) in South Africa. US sheetrock is typically 4 ft × 8 ft (about 2.97 m²). Adjust the result if your supplier uses a different sheet size.
- How much waste should I allow for drywall?
- Allow 10–15% for cuts around doors, windows, and corners. Rooms with lots of openings or odd angles need more.
- Does this include studs, screws, and joint compound?
- No — this estimates boards only. Create a free BuilderBuddi account to build the full partition estimate with studs, tracks, screws, compound, and labour.
