FAQ
- How many bricks do I need per square metre?
- About 55 standard bricks per m² of single-skin wall, 33 for maxi bricks, or 12.5 for standard blocks. Multiply by the wall area and add a small waste allowance. This calculator does it for you.
- How do I calculate bricks for a wall?
- Work out the wall area (length × height), subtract large openings, add ~5% waste, then multiply by the bricks-per-m² for your brick type. The calculator also estimates the cement and sand for mortar.
- How much mortar do I need for brickwork?
- Around 0.025 m³ of mortar per m² of standard brickwork — roughly a 1:6 cement-to-sand mix. The calculator converts this into cement bags and tonnes of building sand.
- Does this include labour?
- This estimates bricks and mortar material. Create a free BuilderBuddi account to build the full brickwork estimate with labour and your margin.
